Victorian Trees on Farms Program

The Victorian Government is offering funding to support establishment of trees on farms through the Victorian Trees on Farms Program. Applications for round one of the program are open until the 30th of June 2026. Visit the website or watch the recording of a recent information session to learn more about eligibility. Feature species

Indigofera australis

Driving through the hills at this time of year, our eyes are caught by the subtle purple and pink flashes of flowering Indigofera australis. Australia is home to about 30 species from the genus Indigofera, of which Indigofera australis is the most common. Widespread in open forests and woodlands (particularly in hilly areas), its pea-shaped flowers are an important pollen and nectar source for many native insects including bees. Suited to most well-draining soils in semi-shaded situations, the species makes an excellent mid-storey addition to a windbreak.
